šŸƒā€ā™‚ļø Why Exercise Is So Important When You Are On Your Sobriety Journey

Samuel Cornell

Exercise has always been a part of my life.

.

I started going to the gym when I was around 18 or 19.

.

It became part of who I was.

.

Itā€™s now part of who I am.

.

Even though I struggled with alcohol and drugs from a younger age than that, I still somehow managed to maintain a regular exercise routine.

.

Even after destroying myself with a major binge, as soon as I was sober again I was back into an exercise routine.

.

Why?

.

Because it made me feel good.

.

It made me feel like Iā€™d achieved something worthwhile that day, even in the unlikely event that I did absolutely nothing else.

.

These days I donā€™t need it to make me feel good.

.

I feel good most of the time, primarily because I have a strict consistent daily practice of meditation in place.

.

But I still like to exercise because it gives me an additional boost šŸš€.

.

Why does it do that?

.

Because when youā€™ve spent your life relying on drugs and alcohol to make you feel normal or content, or to change your state, you canā€™t remove those things and expect to just get on with life and be ok.

.

You have to replace those things with other things that have a similar positive effect, minus the negative effects.

.

If you are fighting for sobriety, or youā€™re there but struggling for contentment and inner-peaceā€¦

.

Get into an exercise routine - a consistent daily or every other day routine.

.

In a short whileā€¦

.

Youā€™ll start to notice the positive mental and physical benefits.

.

.
